IS-linked foreigner plotted a terrorist attack in Istanbul

A foreigner linked to the Islamic State has been arrested in Turkey for plotting an attack, Hurriyet reported.

During searches, explosives and other components for making a bomb, as well as two unregistered handguns, were confiscated from the man. According to authorities, he planned a terrorist attack in Istanbul.

The foreigner was detained during an operation in the Bahçelievler district in the European part of Istanbul. The nationality of the man was not disclosed.

The security officers determined that the alleged terrorist was watching a video with instructions for making explosive devices. According to Aksam newspaper, the detainee was trained in IS camps in Syria.
