Taliban denies selling weapons left behind in Afghanistan after US withdrawal

The Taliban, which controls Afghanistan, said the weapons left by the US after the withdrawal in August 2021 are being stored in warehouses and are not being sold to other parties.

“The claim by some people in the US that the Islamic Emirate (as the movement’s representatives call their government) sold weapons and equipment left by US troops in Afghanistan to other sources is not true, and we strongly reject it,” the official Taliban spokesman  Zabihullah Mujahid said on social media.

According to him, all arms, equipment and vehicles are stored in warehouses and in the country's reserves. “No one is allowed to smuggle or sell weapons via the internet,” Mujahid said in a statement.
