Afghan resistance leader says US strategy in Afghanistan was wrong

Washington's strategy towards Afghanistan was wrong from the very beginning, as it did not take into account the national characteristics of this country, TASS reports citing the leader of the Afghan National Resistance Front Ahmad Massoud.

According to him, this led to the takeover of power by the Taliban movement. The White House's strategy was to establish a government and create an army that replicated the US Army, despite a lack of resources and a complete lack of air support.

Ahmad Massoud pointed out that such approaches ignored the geographical features of Afghanistan, its social structure and history. At the same time, with the right policy, Afghanistan could become a strategic partner of the United States.

The leader of the Federal Resistance Front noted that at some point the attention of the American authorities moved to Iraq and the interest of the American authorities in Afghanistan weakened.

“That led to the catastrophe that we see today,” he emphasized.
