666 attacks in one year committed in Pakistani province

The number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan's northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reached 666 in a year, Pakistan Today reported on July 24, citing local police statistics.

In the year since June 18, 2022, the province has reportedly experienced 382 gun attacks, 107 grenade attacks, 145 improvised explosive device attacks, 15 rocket-propelled grenade attacks and suicide attacks, as well as two car minings by terrorists.

According to police, North Waziristan district (located in the former Tribal Zone) where 140 terrorist attacks were committed per year remains the most active in terms of terrorism.

The report of the police department does not report on the number of victims and injured, affected by the actions of terrorists.

Recall that on November 30, 2022, another wave of terrorist attacks began in Pakistan after the local wing of the Taliban movement announced the termination of the ceasefire with the security forces of Pakistan.

Shortly thereafter, on January 30, a major terrorist attack took place at a mosque in Peshawar, killing more than 100 people.

At present, the government of Pakistan is conducting a continuous counter-terrorist operation in the areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces bordering Afghanistan.
