Extremists plotting a terrorist attack in the FSB building were convicted in the Stavropol Territory

In Stavropol, two local residents were sentenced for preparing an explosion in the office of the regional FSB department. The defendants were a 22-year-old member of an extremist organization banned in Russia and his 21-year-old acquaintance. The young man joined the radical group a few years ago and was working on wide promotion of their narratives. He declared that he was going to make a revolution and started raising money on the Internet to finance the extremist community. And then, in 2017, he and his girlfriend decided to attack a law enforcement officer.

The couple obtained an explosive device that was planned in the administrative building of the FSB in Stavropol. The attack was to take place on a holiday on May 1 to increase its profile. However, in April the perpetrators were arrested.

As a result, the young man was sentenced to 7.5 years in a strict regime colony, and the girl was sentenced to 4 years in colony. They were also fined a total of 130 thousand rubles.
