Afghanistan announces talks on confidence building between the US and the Taliban
Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi stated that an Afghan interim government delegation had discussed confidence building between the parties with US officials in Doha. This was reported by TASS.
According to Balkhi, representatives of the two states held two-day talks at the level of technical committees. The discussions touched upon “issues of confidence building”, the lifting of blacklists and sanctions, unfreezing of the reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, the country's economic situation, as well as issues related to drugs and human rights.
Before that, it became known that the meeting on Afghanistan in the Moscow format will be held on September 29 in Kazan, Russia. At the upcoming meeting, the main topic of discussion will be the inclusiveness of the interim Taliban government, as the Special Representative of the Russian President for the Islamic Republic, director of the Second Department of Asia at the Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov said.
