Two residents of Dagestan accused of extremism

Two residents of Dagestan were detained on charges of extremist activities. They planned to go to Syria to participate in hostilities on the side of the ISIS (terrorist group banned in the Russian Federation).

 

A criminal case was opened against the two Dagestanis who are accused of extremist activities and an attempt to join the ranks of a terrorist organization in another country, the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Dagestan reports.

 

According to the agency, the two young men planned to go to Syria, where they were going to fight on the side of ISIS. In addition, they sympathized with extremist ideology. However, the criminals failed to implement their plans, as Turkish law enforcement officers stopped their attempt to go to Syria. Now the detainees face up to 20 years in prison.
