97% of citizens abandoned their radical views after returning from conflict zones
97% of the citizens who returned from conflict zones renounced their radical views. This was reported by the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazinform correspondent reports.
“Conditions have been created in the country to ensure the citizens’ rights to freedom of religion, so that every person can freely own and pratice their religion. However, explanatory work will be conducted with target groups with regards to the educational activities aimed at developing the values of national identity, tolerance and secularism among the general public,” the ministry said in response to a request from an agency correspondent.
According to the data provided, in 2019 the ministry provided general coordination and methodological support for the local executive bodies working on theological and psychological rehabilitation of citizens who returned (come of age) from conflict zones.
“Thanks to the joint efforts of the ministry, law enforcement and local executive bodies, as well as theologists, presently 97% (182 out of 188) of citizens who returned from conflict zones have renounced their radical views,” the ministry said.
