IDF spokesman says settler violence fueling Palestinian terrorism
On August 7, IDF spokesman Brigadier General Daniel Hagari said that in recent months there has been an increase in ethnically motivated crime by Israelis in the West Bank, and explained that this is spurring Palestinian terrorism.
Hagari called the settler violence “nationalist terror” and said that was “spurring previously uninvolved Palestinian civilians to engage in attacks.” He added that it is necessary to deal with this phenomenon in order to reduce the number of terrorist attacks.
Hagari spoke after chief of the Shin Bet security agency, Ronen Bar, had warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on August 6 that Jewish terrorism against Palestinians in the West Bank was fueling Palestinian terrorism.
According to the publications, Bar warned Netanyahu that Jewish terrorism would lead to acts of retaliation and the shedding of Jewish blood, as happened after the murder of the Dawabshe family in Duma village.
