Ten Syrian soldiers killed in terrorist attack in Raqqa governorate
Islamic state militants conducted an assault in the north-east of Syria.
According to TASS, the Al Hadath TV channel reported that the militants captured the village of Maadan-Atik in Raqqa governorate. During the shootout at checkpoints, ten Syrian soldiers who were were killed, and six more were injured.
The command of the Armed Forces of the Arab Republic sent army reinforcements to the village that was soon liberated. The terrorists set fire to several houses and blew up the captured military equipment before retreating.
According to Al Hadath, 57 military personnel and 49 civilians have been killed by terrorists in the governorates of Raqqa and Hama since January 2023. Now the special forces, with the support fr om the local tribal militias, are conducting an anti-terrorist operation in the Badia ash-Sharqiya desert, wh ere IS gangs operate. Helicopters provide air support to ground forces.
