Sweden became the target of terrorist groups after the Koran burning actions
Along with Denmark and the Netherlands, Sweden became the target of terrorist groups after the Koran burning action, and the threat from terrorists for Sweden became more tangible․
This was stated by the head of the counter-terrorism department at the National Police Operations Department Magnus Sjöberg. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti with reference to the Aftonbladet newspaper.
“We have messages and statements from most of the groups considered terrorists that currently mention Sweden along with Denmark and the Netherlands in their press releases. It makes the threat more tangible... We've gone from saying there isn't much of a threat to the fact that there is,” said Sjöberg.
Speaking about the preparedness of Swedish law enforcement officers to repel the increased terrorist threat, he noted that presently the national police was “doing better” than in the past. At the same time, according to him, “none of us can guarantee that there will be no attack.”
The media notes that the similar fears have increased after the new desecrations of the Koran in Sweden and Denmark.
Actions with the desecration and burning of the Koran which is sacred for Muslims took place recently in Sweden and Denmark. The Organization of Islamic Countries and many of its members strongly condemned such actions.
