Two residents of Semey sentenced to lengthy prison terms for promoting terrorism

A court in the Abai region of Kazakhstan confirmed the sentence of two Semey residents who were found guilty of spreading terrorist narratives, the Antiterrorist Center stated, El.kz reports.

According to the information, these two men, who already had previous convictions in similar cases, were actively spreading radical religious ideology among their religious acquaintances, and called for violence against civilians and law enforcement officials.

Evidence of the guilt of the accused was presented in the form of testimonies and materials seized in the course of operational operations. The court of first instance delivered a verdict, condemning them to 9 and 7.5 years in strict regime colonies. Both convicts tried to challenge the sentence, but the Board of Appeal confirmed it without changes.
