Afghan resistance shells Taliban positions
Supporters of the Afghan Freedom Front (AFF) rebel group launched a rocket attack on the positions of the Taliban in Badakhshan province in the north-east of the country. This was reported by the Hasht-e Subh newspaper, citing local sources.
According to the media, a Taliban checkpoint located at the entrance to the airport in the city of Faizabad, the provincial capital, came under fire.
According to the AFF, published on the group's profile in the X social media (formerly Twitter), one Taliban fighter was killed and three others were injured.
Taliban representatives did not comment on this information.
This is the second attack on Taliban supporters in less than a week. On August 8, the Aamaj News agency reported an attack by the Afghan National Resistance Front (NRF) on a Taliban camp, killing two supporters of the ruling group.
At the moment, there are two largest resistance groups operating in Afghanistan: National Resistance Front (based in the north and northeast of the country) and the Afghan Freedom Front (usually operating in the southern regions, but recently supporters of the ALF have begun to make sorties in the north of the country as well).
