17 soldiers killed in Niger terrorist attack

At least 17 Niger army soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack near the Burkina Faso border. This was reported by Reuters and AFP, citing the Ministry of Defense of Niger.

The troops were ambushed 60 km from the capital. According to preliminary data, 17 soldiers were killed, 20 were injured, and six were seriously injured.

The army detachment was “the victim of a terrorist ambush,” but about a hundred attackers were eliminated during an armed confrontation, the defense ministry says.

Niger, like many other countries, for many years has been standing up to groups linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS, which have killed thousands of people and led to the displacement of millions of people.
