ISIS kills security officer in eastern Syria

Islamic State militants conducted an assault in Deir ez-Zor governorate in eastern Syria. This was indicated in the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Arab Republic broadcast by the Al Ikhbaria TV channel.

It says that terrorists on motorbikes opened fire fr om automatic weapons at the headquarters of the security forces in the city of Al Mayadin, killing a lieutenant of the internal security service.

On August 10, in the vicinity of Al Mayadin, a group of ISIS militants massacred 33 Syrian soldiers who were ambushed by terrorists. Several more soldiers were captured and taken by militants to the desert of Badia ash-Sharqiya wh ere their bases are situated.

The command of the Syrian Armed Forces sent special forces to Deir ez-Zor governorate to conduct an anti-terrorist operation against ISIS.
