An internationally wanted Russian man detained in Kyrgyzstan

Law enforcement officers of Kyrgyzstan detained a Russian citizen who was on the international wanted list during a counter-terrorist operation. This was reported by the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of Kyrgyzstan.

“In the course of countering the sleeping cells of foreign terrorist organizations in the Issyk-Kul region, the State Committee for National Security detained a citizen of the Russian Federation born in 1995, who was on the international wanted list, on August 20, 2023,” the report says.

According to the State Committee for National Security, the detainee is an adherent of a radical ideology. Following instructions of his Syrian supervisors, he became a member of a “sleeping cell” in Kyrgyzstan.
