Ben-Gvir made a statement on the wave of terrorism
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir spoke at an official police event commenting on another series of terrorist attacks in the country.
Ben-Gvir acknowledged that “Israel has been hit by a wave of terrorism,” which he says must be tamed through hard work and bold decisions.
“I asked for a cabinet meeting because, in my opinion, there are great many issues that can be addressed by bringing back targeted countermeasures,” he said.
He said such countermeasures included denial of work permits, establishment of new roadblocks and the death penalty for terrorists, or “in extreme cases, a sharp change in the conditions of detention of terrorists in prisons.”
The minister concluded that he expects members of the cabinet “to approve more and more measures that will make it clear to terrorists that killings do not pay off and that if, God forbid, there is an operational failure and they do not get killed, then they will know that they will have to serve a prison term with all its consequences, as it happens in any normal country.”
