Syrian Kurds step up security at IS prison
Kurdish forces that control Hasakah governorate in Syria have stepped up security at the al-Sinaa prison, where IS members are held. According to the Al Mayadeen TV channel, additional detachments of militias fr om the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were sent to the area wh ere the penitentiary facility is located.
According to the media, earlier it became known about the terrorists were planning escape. The SDF command fears that IS groups operating in the Syrian desert may have infiltrated Hasakah to assist the potential fugitives.
On January 20, 2022, IS supporters mutinied in al-Sinaa prison with 3.5 thousand prisoners, including those who participated in the hostilities at the side of terrorists. They were assisted by IS fighters who infiltrated the city and detonated two car bombs at the entrance to the prison to facilitate the escape of the prisoners.
