Terrorist cell busted in Crimea
In Crimea, FSB and Russian Guard officers thwarted the activities of a Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami cell (the group is banned in Russia). There were six Islamists that were spreading extremist narratives and conducting recruitment among local Muslims. This was reported by the Center for Public Relations of the FSB.
“The members of this local territorial structure carried out unconstitutional activities based on the doctrine of establishing the so-called global caliphate, destroying the institutions of secular society and aimed at forceful overthrowing of the current government,” the FSB said in a statement.
Security force officers found and seized propaganda materials, communications equipment, and a large amount at the venues of the terrorists. Criminal cases have been initiated.
