Kyrgyzstan repatriated 95 women and children from Syria
The authorities of Kyrgyzstan repatriated 95 women and children with Kyrgyz citizenship fr om Syria to their homeland by a special flight. This was reported by the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.
“In pursuance of the instructions of the Head of State and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, 31 women and 64 children who are citizens of Kyrgyzstan were delivered from Syria to Kyrgyzstan by a special plane on August 30, 2023,” the report says.
The successful implementation of the second stage of the repatriation of Kyrgyz citizens from Syria became possible due to the interaction of “authorized public bodies in the field of foreign policy, national security, healthcare, social security, as well as law enforcement agencies, the press service notes,
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan also expressed gratitude to the US government, the UN Children's Fund and the International Committee of the Red Cross for “comprehensive assistance and logistical support for the successful implementation of this repatriation effort.”
As part of the mission, the Kyrgyz delegation donated humanitarian aid with medicines for the needs of the population of northeast Syria.
In February this year, Kyrgyzstan took 18 women and 41 children from the zone of armed clashes in Syria. All of them were placed in a rehabilitation center wh ere they were assisted in reintegration into a peaceful life.
