Cell suspected of supporting IS uncovered in Turkey
As part of an operation against the Islamic State (IS) in Istanbul, Turkish law enforcement agencies have eliminated a cell suspected of supplying military equipment to IS. This was reported by Ikhlas news agency.
According to the news agency, the police, acting on a tip, raided the homes of a Kyrgyz citizen and a Syrian citizen suspected of providing logistical support to IS militants.
As indicated in the report, police seized sniper binoculars, tactical laser devices and other electronic and military equipment during the search. The two detainees were allegedly directly linked to the IS logistics unit.
Law enforcement agencies have expanded their investigation into the suspects' links in Turkey and their network for delivering military supplies to conflict zones.
Türkiye often conducts operations against IS groups domestically and in neighboring Syria. IS has carried out a series of attacks in Turkey, including in Istanbul.
