Countering terrorism financing was discussed at the SCO RATS meeting in Astana
Participants of the meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) held in the capital of Kazakhstan discussed issues related to suppressing terrorism financing channels. This was reported by the press service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan.
“The forum considered issues related to identifying and suppressing terrorism financing channels, as well as combating illicit arms trafficking. The participants discussed interim results of the implementation of the SCO Member States Cooperation Program to Counter Terrorism, Separatism and Extremism for 2022-2024,” the statement said.
In addition, participants discussed plans for the coming period. “It is planned to hold a seminar and joint exercise on preventing the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes in the Republic of India. The parties also signed a final document on the implementation of joint projects and other measures aimed at maintaining stability and security in the region,” the press service explained.
It was agreed to hold the next meeting of the SCO RATS in China.
The meeting in Astana was attended by delegations from India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the SCO RATS Executive Committee. Representatives of Belarus and Mongolia were invited as observers.
