Syria claims elimination of more than 100 terrorists in two governorates
The Syrian army eliminated more than 100 terrorists in the governorates of Idlib and Hama with artillery strikes, SANA reports citing the national Ministry of Defense.
The military attacked command posts, fortifications and ammunition depots. “As a result, 111 militants were eliminated and more than 80 others were injured,” the report notes. Russian aviation took part in the operations, the Syrian Ministry of Defense added.
Some of the terrorists whose positions were attacked belonged to the Ansar al-Tawhid group, associated with Al-Qaeda, SANA reports. The operation against them was carried out near the village of Al-Malaja in Idlib.
Ansar al-Tawhid operates in Idlib and its environs. Authorities are fighting terrorist groups in this governorate and certain southwestern regions.
