Radical religious cell busted in Kazakhstan

Employees of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan detained two Kazakh citizens  on suspicion of promoting terrorism, the press service of the agency reports.

“On September 9, 2023, in the city of Aktobe, the National Security Committee, with the support from the police, busted a radical religious cell. Two citizens of Kazakhstan were detained on suspicion of promoting terrorism. Extremist literature and other material evidence were confiscated from their places of residence,” the statement says.

A criminal case has been launched. Additional information is not subject to disclosure, the committee noted.
