Pakistani Foreign Minister: TTP activities increase tension between Islamabad and Kabul

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) extremist group is the reason for hostility between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Caretaker Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani stated this on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

“TTP, the banned extremist group, operating on Afghan land, is fueling hostility between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Kabul must take unequivocal practical measures against the TTP and fulfill its commitment to the international community to prevent the use of Afghan soil for attacks on Pakistan and other countries,” the Dawn newspaper quoted the minister as saying.

“Attacks from Afghanistan still pose a serious issue for Pakistan,” Jilani added.

According to the head of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, Islamabad would like to see neighboring Afghanistan as a stable and prosperous country, but this is hampered by the continued presence of TTP militants, the Islamic State and other extremist groups on Afghan territory.
