Terrorist group member sentenced to nine years in Uzbekistan

The criminal court of the Yunusabad district of the city of Tashkent (Uzbekistan) sentenced a citizen of Uzbekistan who fought in Syria for Ha’y’at Tahrir al-Sham terrorist organization to nine years in prison. The State Security Service of Uzbekistan reported this.

According to the prosecution, the convict went to work in Turkey, fell under the influence of the propaganda of a terrorist organization while staying there, and went to Syria in the autumn of 2019. He fought in the ranks of terrorists. A year later, he returned to Turkey and was involved in transporting people recruited by terrorist groups to Syria. In December, he was detained by Turkish law enforcement officers and deported to Uzbekistan.
