Kostanay resident sentenced to seven years for promoting terrorism and inciting religious hatred

District Court of the Kostanay province named after Mailin found a resident of Kostanay guilty of promoting terrorism and inciting religious hatred, reports the press service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The convict posted videos of a religious extremist nature, scenes of terrorist attacks and executions of hostages on social media. He also included symbols of foreign terrorist organizations in his posts. The National Security Committee reported that they had completed their looking into the criminal case and referred the case to court.

The court proved the person’s guilt and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment. On September 20, 2023, the verdict came into force.
