Religious radical person detained in West Kazakhstan region

The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in coordination with the prosecutor's office and assistance of the police, detained a resident of the West Kazakhstan region.

“The man is suspected of distributing propaganda materials of foreign terrorist organizations through social media. The detainee had already been convicted of terrorist activities before,” the statement said.

During investigation, religious literature and other material evidence were confiscated at the detainee’s place of residence.

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted against this person under Part 2 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code.
