IS cell busted in northeast Afghanistan

The Taliban movement has uncovered an Islamic State cell in Badakhshan province in northeastern Afghanistan, Al-Mersaad reports.

The news agency published a video recording of the confession of a detained member of the terrorist network. According to the head of the cell, the group's terrorist activities included attack on the chief of police in the city of Faizabad, suicide attacks on the deputy governor of Badakhshan province, as well as on one of the banks in Kabul. However, the exact number of detained militants is not disclosed.

The video also shows weapons and equipment that the militants tried to smuggle into the Shuhada area of Badakhshan to expand their area of operation.
