The Belgian attacker is a radical Islamist

An unknown person in an orange signal vest drove up to a building located in the center of Brussels at around 19.00 (20.00 Moscow time) and, while shouting “Allahu Akbar,” began shooting at people dressed in the uniform of the Swedish national football team. In a video circulated on social media, the attacker was chasing people and shooting at them with a machine gun.

At the moment, two Swedish citizens are known to have died, and another person was injured. The victims were Swedes who came to Brussels to cheer for the Swedish national football team at the Sweden-Belgium match.

The attacker later recorded a video in which he stated that he belongs to the Islamic State, committed to kills “infidels” and is ready to die for his religion.

The alert level in Brussels has been raised to the maximum of four.
