Two US military bases in Syria were attacked by drones
The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, which includes Shia armed militia, attacked US military bases in Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah in Syria with drones, the Associated Press reports.
The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias, said two drones attacked US military bases near the al-Omar oil field in Deir ez-Zor province and at al-Shaddad further north, the report said.
It was noted that this attack occurred several hours after the organization claimed responsibility for drone attacks on the al-Tanf military base. The Iraqi Shafaq News agency previously reported that the air defense successfully intercepted those drones.
The al-Tanf base is a military facility operated by an international coalition led by the United States. It was created in 2014 to counter the Islamic State in both Iraq and Syria, so it is located on the border of Syria, Iraq and Jordan, in the province of Homs.
