SCO RATS member states discussed the situation in Afghanistan with the UN in Uzbekistan

Members of the delegation of the executive committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) met with the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Group  in Tashkent. They exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan.

“During the bilateral meeting, the parties exchanged an assessment of the threats posed by the Al-Qaida and ISIS (Da’esh) foreign terrorist organizations, as well as groups associated with them, both around the world and in Afghanistan, in order to identify the operational capacity of these groups and the methods and approaches they use,” says a message on the SCO RATS website. It also states that the parties exchanged “views on the dynamics of the unfolding of the security situation in Afghanistan, terrorist groups on its territory, their connections, movements, structure and locations.”
