Convict sentenced for spreading terrorism narratives among inmates

The National Security Committee has completed a criminal investigation into the propaganda of terrorism within a penal facility, BaigeNews.kz reports with reference to the National Security Committee.

The court of the city of Taraz decided that citizen indicated as “K” was guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 256 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 7 years in prison.

“On November 9, the verdict entered into legal force. It was established that the defendant was spreading radical narratives among his inmates. His guilt was fully proven by the materials of the criminal case.

It must be noted that the convict had been serving a sentence for attempted murder since 2018,” the National Security Committee reported.

According to the National Security Committee, five people have been sentenced to various terms of imprisonment for promoting terrorism in penal institutions since the beginning of 2023.
