International counter-terrorism exercises took place in northwest Pakistan

International counter terrorism exercise Fajar Al Sharq-V took place at the National Counter-Terrorism Center in Pakistan's northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.


The exercise lasted for two weeks, the Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army's press office said. Special forces units from the armies of Pakistan, Bahrain, Iraq and Kuwait took part in the event.


The purpose of the exercises was to improve the interaction of the security forces of the participating countries in the field of countering terrorism and exchange experience in this area. During the exercises, special forces from Pakistan, Bahrain, Iraq and Kuwait carried out joint operational and investigative activities in order to identify and suppress terrorist attacks targeting critical infrastructure facilities and places of mass gatherings of people, as well as to free hostages, ISPR stated.
