The Russian Armed Forces declared the international LGBT movement to be extremist

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the claim of the Ministry of Justice to recognize the international LGBT movement as extremist on Thursday.

“The decision is to designate the international public LGBT movement an extremist one and ban its activities in Russia,” judge Oleg Nefedov announced the decision.

The court hearing was held behind closed doors.

At the same time, according to Interfax, Thursday's court decision “does not affect citizens' right to privacy and will not entail any negative legal consequences.” The restrictions are related to the need to comply with the ban on LGBT propaganda, advertising, generating interest, and involving people in the LGBT movement.
