A teenager detained In Germany for preparing a terrorist attack in Cologne
Two teenagers were detained in Germany on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack in Cologne. This was reported by BILD in Russian.
It is noted that the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution received information about a Telegram user who was a member of the Islamic State group and posted a video calling for a holy war against the West. In addition, he announced his intention to carry out a terrorist attack on December 1. The user was 15-year-old Edris D. from Burscheid, a teenager of Afghan origin. He was not considered a terrorism suspect either by the police or by domestic intelligence.
Edris, according to investigators, maintained contact with 16-year-old Russian citizen Rasul M. from Wittstock (Brandenburg), a supporter of the Islamic State terrorist organization, who was known to the police for distributing terrorist propaganda. It is alleged that he was involved in the planned attack and, according to the investigation, he allegedly wanted to travel to Burscheid on December 1. Presumably, the teenagers wanted to carry out a terrorist attack using improvised explosive devices or a small truck. They targeted the Christmas market or synagogue in Cologne.
An investigation is underway on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack.
