A man who threatened with a terrorist attack detained in Germany

A 20-year-old man from Iraq was detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack during the Christmas holidays in the federal state of Lower Saxony, said the Minister of the Interior of Lower Saxony Daniela Behrens.

The day before, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution warned of an increased threat of terrorist attacks by representatives of radical Islamist groups. The department explained this by the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East that happened after the attack on Israel by militants of the Hamas movement, designated as a terrorist organization by the European Union and the United States.
