A man with a knife attacked passers-by in Paris
A man with a knife attacked passers-by on the evening of December 2, near the Quai de Grenelle in Paris. He killed one person injured two more, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said.
The attacker has been detained. According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, before being arrested the man shouted “Allahu Akbar”. The minister said the attacker suffered from mental disorders and was undergoing treatment and was known to police as a supporter of radical Islam.
According to Le Figaro, the man said he was against the killing of Muslims in Palestine and called France an “accomplice” of Israel.
The newspaper writes that the detainee was born in 1997 in France. In July 2016, he was detained on suspicion of plans to commit attacks. That same year he was sentenced to four years in prison.
The head of the French Interior Ministry mentioned that the deceased was a German citizen.
