A native of the Andijan region is wanted for participation in hostilities in Syria
A terrorist from Uzbekistan who fights for the radical movement in Syria has been put on the international wanted list, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports with reference to the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Andijan region.
A resident of this region, Zaid Kukonbaev, born in 1991, went to work abroad and travelled to Syria through Turkey. After falling under the influence of the leaders of a foreign terrorist organization, he underwent combat training and now takes an active part in hostilities on the side of the radicals.
In 2021, a criminal case was opened against Kukonbaev under articles related to recruiting persons for the purpose of undergoing training to carry out terrorist activities or traveling abroad or moving through the territory of Uzbekistan to participate in terrorist activities, as well as for the production, storage, distribution or demonstration of materials containing a threat to public safety and public order.
The terrorist has been put on the international wanted list. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
