The EU says there is a high risk of terrorist attacks during the Christmas holidays

Member of the European Commission for home affairs Ylva Johansson believes that Europe might  face a high risk of terrorist attacks during the Christmas period due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Associated Press reports.

According to her, the European Commission will also allocate additionaly 30 million euros to strengthen security in vulnerable areas of EU member states.

Johansson's warning follows events in Paris, where tourists were attacked with a knife near the Eiffel Tower on Saturday, leaving one dead.
