More than 70 undercover terrorist cells were identified in Russia in 2023
In 2023, Russian intelligence services thwarted the activities of 73 undercover cells and more than 180 organized criminal groups. This was reported by the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.
In total, since the beginning of the year, law enforcement officers have prevented 228 terrorist crimes in Russia, including 146 terrorist attacks, said Chairman of the NAC and Director of the FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov.
“The activities of 73 clandestine cells and more than 180 organized criminal groups involved in illegal arms trafficking were suppressed, and 146 underground weapons workshops were eliminated. The accounts of more than 4 thousand persons amounting in total to over 110 million rubles used for financing of terrorism and Ukrainian armed groups have been blocked,” TASS quotes Bortnikov.
In addition, over 15.5 thousand materials with terrorist content were removed from the Internet in cooperation with Roskomnadzor.
