Samara resident was recruiting pre-trial detention center inmates for a terrorist squad

The Central District Military Court sentenced a 32-year-old Samara resident to 9 years in prison. He was found guilty of assisting terrorists.

According to the investigation, the man was arrested for drug trafficking. He was held in pre-trial detention center (SIZO 1). There he was trying to persuade other prisoners to convert to Islam and join Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami banned terrorist group. The new recruits had to take an oath of allegiance. These “brothers” were supposed to work for terrorists in the future, including after their release, said representatives of the FSB Department for the Samara region.
