Terrorist attack against police officers prevented in Poland
Polish security service prevented a terrorist attack against police officers. This was reported by RMF FM radio station, as Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
According to the investigation, an 18-year-old young man who converted to Islam at the end of 2022 wanted to use a suicide belt to commit a terrorist attack at the police commandant’s office in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The local prosecutor's office sent an indictment to the court in Świdnica.
According to the prosecutor's office, the young man, among other things, was viewing Al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden as his model, was inspired by the activities of the Islamic State and came into contact with militants.
The attacker was detained by employees of the Internal Security Agency when he was looking for information about the design of the explosive device and sought to acquire its components.
The prosecutor's office reported that during a search in the detainee's house, evidence of the alleged crime was found. If the guilt of the young man is proven in court, he faces up to 8 years in prison.
