A foreigner who financed terrorism sentenced in Russian Yakutia

The Eastern District Military Court sentenced a citizen of Kyrgyzstan to 9 years in prison for financing terrorism, the press service of the FSB Directorate for Yakutia reported.

It was established that the defendant is a follower of the Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad terrorist organization which is banned in Russia. He transferred money to finance the needs of militants located in Syria. He was detained, and the Yakutian FSB launched a criminal case against him under Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia.
