IRGC launches strikes against ISIS in Syria

Iran attacked the positions of the Islamic State (ISIS), whose spokespersons claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack at the grave of IRGC General Soleimani in the Iranian city of Kerman.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched strikes against ISIS in Syria in response to an explosion at a cemetery in Kerman, Al Jazeera reports.

“We identified and destroyed the gathering places of the commanders. They were hit by a series of ballistic missile attacks,” the IRGC statement said.

On January 3, an explosion occurred during a solemn ceremony near the tomb of IRGC General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in Iraq by a US strike in 2020. Almost 100 people were killed and more than 200 were injured at the hands of ISIS terrorists.

On January 4th, another explosion took place in Kerman.

In both cases, the suicide bombers used explosive belts that they detonated while being in the crowd.
