St. Petersburg resident sentenced to 12 years for supporting terrorism on the Internet

The Second Western District Military Court sentenced an extremist previously detained in St. Petersburg to 12 years in prison. He was accused of assisting Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group what is banned in Russia and operates in Syria. The person was justifying terrorism and urging for extremist actions via Internet.

 

As a result, citizen of the Russian Federation Ravshan Khakimov was found guilty of crimes under Article 205.1, Article 205.2 (Assistance and Public Justification of Terrorist Activities), Article 280 (Calls for Extremist Activities), Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Rehabilitation of Nazism). He is also prohibited from engaging in activities related to the administration of Internet sites.
