White House denies reports that it considers withdrawing US troops from Syria

The White House in a comment to Al Arabiya TV channel denied information about the United States considering the possibility of a complete withdrawal of American troops from Syria.

Earlier, Foreign Policy magazine, citing four officials at the State Department and the Pentagon, reported that the White House was no longer interested in the US mission in Syria, which it “considers unnecessary.” Currently, according to the magazine, the Washington administration is discussing when and how troops can be withdrawn, although a final decision on this issue has not yet been made.

The US Department of Defense forwarded TASS's request to comment on the publication in the Foreign Policy to the White House. The White House nor the State Department are yet to respond to a similar request from the news agency.
