On January 20 and 24, employees of the National Security Committee, the prosecutor's office and the police in the cities of Astana, Shymkent and the Aktobe region carried out operations to suppress the activities of religious radicals, the department's press service reports.

Operatives detained and took into custody three people suspected of promoting and financing terrorism.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched.
