A nineteen-year-old Irkutsk resident suspected of planning a terrorist attack
In Irkutsk region, police detained a nineteen-year-old resident of Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky town on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack, the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. It is known that the young man is a supporter of the Columbine movement, designated in the Russian Federation as a terrorist one. Earlier, in the fall, he was disseminating narratives of the organization and expressed intentions of mass murder in his hometown.
He is suspected of planning an especially grave crime in the field of public safety. Thematic items and paraphernalia were seized from the suspect. <...> A criminal case has been initiated under Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Arranging the Activities of a Terrorist Organization and Participating in the Activities of Such an Organization), the statement says.
It is also noted that the detainee did not deny it and admitted to the police that he was planning the crime. The young man was taken into custody.
As the investigative authorities established, the suspect chose the date of the crime and purchased items indicating his belonging to the banned organization. He planned to use them to accomplish his plan.
