Two terrorist attacks were prevented at an early stage by the National Security Committee in 2023. The head of the National Security Committee Ermek Sagimbayev reported this to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tengrinews.kz states with reference to the Akorda website.

“It was reported to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev that last year the NSC units jointly with foreign intelligence services at early stage prevented two terrorist attacks domestically and three actions abroad. Besides, 43 persons were convicted of committing terrorist and extremist crimes. During the year, 208 command post exercises and 196 operational and tactical anti-terrorist exercises were conducted under the coordination of the Committee,” the statement said.
